Fat boy out-grew his jersey before it even got here!
July 4, Ireland. It was an epic celebration ...
June and I stayed inside and took our time getting ready. We left the hotel around 12:45 and slowly made our way to Croke Park. We stopped at Garden of Remembrance and the Dublin City Gallery. I really enjoyed the Dublin City Gallery. They have a nice collection of "modern art", much of what has been impressionistic. After that we followed the crowd of suits stadium Croke.
We enjoyed the walk. It was a beautiful day. The sun shone in a bright blue sky. There was little wild wind throughout the day, but it was good weather for the fourth.
We collected our tickets at the Hotel Croke Park and arrested by the GAA (gaelic Athletic Association) store and bought a jersey to support the team in Galway. I made my decision based on their colors, maroon and white! We then went into the stadium. June and I have a hot dog and split a Heineken for breakfast.
After our quick lunch, we found our seats. The sport we watched launched. It is a traditional Irish sport, and as far as I know, Ireland is the only place where it is still regularly played. We looked at Kilkenny and Galway in the quarter-finals nationally. It is an interesting sport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurling). It lasts 70 minutes, and it moves very quickly. You should take a look (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM-kB1e96CA) for yourself!
